Real-World Use Information

Whether assembling hunting loads for white-tail deer or rolling volume target ammo for weekend range sessions, CCI 200 Primers provide steady flame propagation across extruded and spherical rifle powders. Their uniform cup dimensions ensure effortless seating into standard large rifle primer pockets using hand priming tools, bench tools, or progressive press assemblies. Additionally, the clean-burning chemical formulation minimizes carbon fouling in flash holes and chamber throats, extending case life and maintaining shot-to-shot consistency.

Compatibility & Requirements

Cartridge Compatibility: Fits all standard large rifle primer pocket cases (.308 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor large pocket, .30-06, .270 Win, .243 Win).
Equipment Compatibility: Seats cleanly using standard hand priming tools, bench tools, and progressive press priming assemblies (Dillon, Hornady, Lee, RCBS).
Safety Requirement: Wear safety glasses during handling, store in a cool, dry location away from heat sources, and never force a primer into an obstructed pocket.

Pros & Limitations

Pros:

Consistent Detonation: Delivers uniform flame output for reliable powder ignition and predictable internal ballistics.
Smooth Progressive Feeding: Precision cup dimensions prevent jams and crushed primers in automated feed tubes.
Clean-Burning Compound: Reduces carbon residue in flash holes and action mechanisms.
Non-Corrosive Chemistry: Protects precision barrels and action components from chemical pitting.

Limitations:

Standard Flame Output: Designed for standard-pressure rifle cartridges; for heavy magnum cases (.300 Win Mag, 7mm Rem Mag) or slow-burning ball powders in high-volume cases, use CCI #250 large rifle magnum primers.
Not for Semi-Auto Slam-Fire Protection: For floating firing pin military rifles (M1A, M1 Garand, AR-10), consider CCI #34 MIL-SPEC military primers with hardened cups.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What is the difference between CCI #200 and CCI #250 primers?

A: CCI #200 is a standard large rifle primer, whereas CCI #250 is a large rifle magnum primer with a hotter, longer flame flash designed for igniting heavy charges of slow-burning powder in magnum calibers.

Q: Can I use CCI 200 primers in .308 Winchester?

A: Yes, CCI #200 primers are one of the most popular choices for reloading standard-pressure .308 Winchester cartridges.

Q: Are CCI 200 primers non-corrosive?

A: Yes, CCI #200 primers utilize a non-corrosive, non-mercuric chemical compound that protects barrel bores and flash holes from chemical degradation.
