Federal Large Rifle Primers #210 Box of 1000
Clear Product Overview
Federal 210 Primers (Large Rifle Standard) are a trusted benchmark among handloaders seeking reliable ignition, smooth seating, and consistent velocity performance. As a cornerstone of Federal’s Champion reloading line, these No. 210 non-corrosive, non-mercuric primers are built with high-purity brass cups and specially formulated priming compounds. Because large-capacity rifle cases demand uniform thermal transfer to ignite extruded and ball propellants, Federal designs these cups and anvils to exacting dimensions. Consequently, big-game hunters and target shooters count on them for tight shot-to-shot grouping across standard rifle cartridges.

Real-World Use Information
Whether you are prepping hunting rounds for the upcoming deer season or crafting precision target handloads, Federal 210 Primers provide the crisp, reliable ignition required for full powder combustion. Their uniform cup geometry seats smoothly into standard large rifle primer pockets using hand priming tools, bench tools, or progressive press primer feeds. Furthermore, the clean-burning chemical formulation leaves minimal carbon buildup around flash holes and chamber throats. As a result, handloaders maintain consistent muzzle velocities and low standard deviations downrange.
Compatibility & Requirements
-
Cartridge Compatibility: Fits all standard large rifle primer pocket brass (.30-06, .308 Win, .270 Win, .243 Win, large pocket 6.5 Creedmoor).
-
Equipment Compatibility: Seats cleanly using standard hand priming tools, bench tools, and progressive press priming systems (Dillon, Hornady, Lee, RCBS).
-
Safety Requirement: Always wear eye protection during assembly, store primers in a cool place away from open flame, and never force a primer into an obstructed pocket.
Pros & Limitations
Pros:
-
Dependable Ignition: Uniform flame output ensures complete burn of both stick and ball rifle powders.
-
Smooth Seating: Consistent cup dimensions prevent tipping and crushed cups during seating.
-
Non-Corrosive Chemistry: Protects precision bores and throat areas from corrosive degradation.
-
Broad Versatility: Excellent multi-purpose choice for virtually all standard-pressure non-magnum rifle calibers.
Limitations:
-
Not for Magnum Cases: For large-capacity magnum cartridges requiring intense thermal output (such as .300 Win Mag), Federal #215 Magnum Large Rifle primers are recommended instead.
-
Soft Cup Considerations: Highly sensitive cup construction requires proper seating depth (0.002 to 0.006 inches below flush) to ensure safety in semi-automatic rifles.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: What is the difference between Federal #210 and Federal #210M primers?
A: Federal #210 is a standard large rifle primer, whereas #210M is the Gold Medal Match version. The #210M primers are manufactured to tighter tolerances with extra quality checks for ultra-low velocity variance in match shooting.
Q: Can I use Federal 210 Large Rifle primers in 6.5 Creedmoor brass?
A: Yes, provided your 6.5 Creedmoor brass utilizes standard large rifle primer pockets (such as Hornady, Winchester, or Federal brass).
Q: Are Federal 210 primers suitable for reloading .30-06 Springfield?
A: Absolutely. Federal #210 primers are one of the most popular and reliable choices for loading standard-pressure .30-06 hunting and target ammunition.

Brett308 From Westland, MI –
Bought these for a “special” load. Carrying a 454 Casull for bear protection out west in a Ruger SRH. Normally 454 uses small rifle primers however the best powder I have found for full power loads is W296/ H110. This powder is notoriously hard to light so I prefer to use large primers, doing so bought me 80fps more velocity on average and better accuracy due to more consistent ignition. To do this I cut down 460 S&W brass to 454 length and loaded them with large primers. Using another brand caused occasional misfires in the handgun because the cups were too hard and hammer blow of the pistol too soft. Federal primers are a quality product and have the softest cups of the major brands so these are more sensitive than the others. They solved my misfire issue while retaining my accuracy and velocity. Now I have a hot and reliable bear load I hope I never need!
