Alliant Reloder 19 Smokeless Gun Powder

Clear Product Overview

Alliant Reloder 19 smokeless gun powder (RL-19) is an advanced, slow-burning extruded rifle powder designed to optimize velocity and energy in medium and heavy rifle cartridges. Recognized for its excellent density and smooth metering qualities, Reloder 19 is a top choice for handloaders seeking maximum downrange performance in classic hunting rounds like .30-06 Springfield, .270 Winchester, and 7mm Remington Magnum. Its balanced burn rate produces high ballistic efficiency while keeping working pressures well within safe limits.

Real-World Use Information

Handloaders count on alliant reloder 19 smokeless gun powder when loading medium-to-heavy projectiles for big-game hunting and long-range hunting applications. The uniform stick kernels burn at a controlled, progressive rate that delivers high barrel velocities without generating abrupt pressure spikes. This progressive push makes RL-19 particularly effective in standard long-action cartridges with heavy bullets, as well as medium-capacity magnum cases, yielding consistent group sizes and low velocity variation.

Compatibility & Requirements

• Cartridge Compatibility: Excels in standard cartridges like .270 Win, .30-06 Springfield, .25-06 Rem, and 6.5x55mm Swedish, as well as magnum calibers such as 7mm Rem Mag and .300 Win Mag.

• Measurement Note: Flows smoothly through automated powder tricklers and digital dispensers. Handloaders using traditional rotary measures should use a steady stroke to meter extruded kernels accurately.

• Safety Requirement: Always consult current published reloading data from Alliant Powder or trusted reloading manuals, starting at the minimum recommended charge weight.

Pros & Limitations

Pros:

• Versatile Cartridge Fit: Provides top-tier velocity across a broad spectrum of popular standard and magnum hunting cartridges.

• Optimized for Medium/Heavy Bullets: Delivers high load densities and consistent velocities when paired with heavier projectiles.

• High Muzzle Velocity: Engineered to extract maximum downrange velocity and kinetic energy without excessive pressure.

• Clean & Progressive Burn: Reduces excessive throat erosion and fouling for reliable performance round after round.

Limitations:

• Not for Small Cases: Slower burn profile is unsuitable for small-capacity rifle cases like .223 Remington or .308 Winchester.

• Rotary Metering: Requires consistent technique when thrown directly from mechanical powder measures due to extruded kernel size.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What cartridges work best with Alliant Reloder 19?

A: Reloder 19 works exceptionally well in .270 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, .25-06 Remington, 6.5×55 Swedish, 7mm Remington Magnum, and .338 Winchester Magnum.

Q: Is Alliant Reloder 19 faster or slower burning than Reloder 22?

A: Reloder 19 has a slightly faster burn rate than Reloder 22, making it a better match for standard long-action cases and medium-weight magnum loads.

Q: Can I use Alliant Reloder 19 in .308 Winchester?

A: No. Reloder 19 burns too slowly for the case capacity of .308 Winchester. For .308 Win, faster rifle propellants such as Alliant Reloder 15 or Power Pro 2000-MR are recommended.
